The species may have roamed the area of what is now Alaska. There is an opinion, however, that the fossils recognized as Tigers' remains could belong to the lion.

It is true that the species' numbers are low at the moment. All species of the Tiger are considered endangered and are under protection laws, which bans hunting and trading in this species' parts.
